Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi Leave for Delhi Ahead of Court Appearance

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi left Patna for Delhi on Sunday, amid indications they will appear before the Rouse Avenue Court in the land-for-jobs case. Earlier, Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav had already appeared before the court.

The court had directed Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav to be present between February 1 and 25 for framing of charges. During a January 29 hearing, the court fixed the window for appearances, following which Tejashwi Yadav attended proceedings on February 9 and denied all allegations.

The case pertains to alleged irregularities during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Union Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009. Investigators allege that Group-D railway jobs were granted in exchange for land parcels transferred to members of the Lalu family or linked entities, primarily in and around Patna. The matter remains one of the most high-profile political cases involving Bihar’s leadership.
