A shocking shooting incident has triggered panic in Sultan Ganj’s Tilakpur Panchayat after Vijay Yadav, husband of a serving woman ward member, was shot by armed assailants in broad daylight. The attack occurred as Yadav was returning home with his daughter after dropping her at an examination centre. The assailant allegedly fired at close range, hitting Yadav in the chest in front of the child, before fleeing through nearby fields.
The critically injured victim was rushed to Sultan Ganj Referral Hospital and later referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Bhagalpur, where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors described his condition as serious.
Police have identified local criminal Anish Mandal as the prime suspect, citing a long-standing personal rivalry. Mandal was reportedly released from jail recently and had returned to the village days before the attack. Sultan Ganj police have collected evidence from the spot and launched raids to arrest the accused.
The incident has heightened fear among villagers, with the victim’s family demanding swift justice and enhanced security.
