A 70-year-old man was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Patna, triggering public outrage and fresh concerns over safety. The incident occurred near Vivekananda Colony crossing under the Chowk police station area, where the victim was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon, believed to be a chopper. CCTV cameras in the locality reportedly captured the entire assault.
Police identified the victim as Mohammad Raees, who died on the spot due to severe neck injuries. Soon after the attack, panic spread in the busy locality as crowds gathered at the scene. The victim’s family has alleged that the murder was premeditated. His daughter told police that her father had received repeated threats and named a local man as the prime suspect.
A case has been registered, and police teams are scanning CCTV footage, collecting forensic evidence, and conducting raids to trace the accused. Officials said all possible angles are being investigated and arrests will be made soon.
