The Rashtriya Janata Dal is set to hold a crucial national executive meeting in Patna on January 25, marking its first major strategic exercise after the party’s crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. The meeting, scheduled at Hotel Maurya from 11:30 am, is being closely watched as it is expected to chart the future political and organisational direction of the party.
According to party sources, a key decision on appointing Tejashwi Yadav as national working president could be taken during the deliberations. With Lalu Prasad Yadav gradually stepping back from active politics due to age and health, the move is being seen as a generational transition and consolidation of leadership.
Leaders from 27 states, members of the national executive and more than 200 delegates have arrived in Patna to participate in the meeting. All visiting leaders are staying at the venue, where intense political discussions and strategy sessions are underway, focusing on organisational restructuring, electoral strategy and rebuilding the party’s base nationwide.
