A long-standing land dispute led to a shocking fratricide in Bihar’s Motihari district on Friday, leaving a village in mourning. The incident occurred in Ujjain Lohiyar village under the Harsiddhi police station area, where a minor disagreement over placing straw on a small piece of land spiraled into deadly violence. According to police, the accused, Binda Thakur, allegedly attacked his elder brother Bindeshwari Thakur with an iron rod during a heated argument. The repeated blows caused severe injuries and excessive bleeding, leading to the victim’s death at the spot.
The incident triggered panic and grief among family members, who were left devastated on seeing the body lying in the courtyard. Villagers said disputes over the land had occurred earlier but never reached such an extreme. After receiving information, Harsiddhi police rushed to the scene, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. Areraj DSP Ravi Kumar confirmed the murder, stating that raids are underway to arrest the absconding accused.
