CBSE Warns Students and Parents to Stay Alert Against Fake Universities

The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a strong advisory to students and parents, urging them to remain cautious of fake universities and institutions. CBSE stated that after passing Class 10 and 12, students should take admission only in colleges and universities recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).The board clarified that every year several fake universities mislead students through attractive advertisements and false promises, putting their future at risk. Degrees obtained from such institutions are not valid and can create serious problems in higher education and employment.CBSE informed that the UGC publishes a list of fake universities on its official website every year. Students and parents have been advised to verify the recognition status of any institution before taking admission.The board also emphasized that during the admission process, the institution’s official website, the UGC list, and related documents should be thoroughly checked. According to CBSE, a small amount of caution can help safeguard a student’s future. Parents have been urged to guide their children with accurate information and avoid making hasty decisions regarding admissions.
