Jharkhand High Court Dismisses Hemant Soren’s Petition, Challenge to MP-MLA Court’s Cognizance in ED Summons Contempt Case Fails

The Jharkhand High Court has dismissed Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s petition in which he challenged the MP-MLA Court’s cognizance of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons contempt case. The High Court clarified that it cannot intervene at this stage.The case relates to a complaint filed by the ED regarding non-compliance of its summons. In his petition, the Chief Minister had argued that the MP-MLA Court did not have the authority to take cognizance of the matter and that the process was inappropriate under the Constitution and law.During the hearing, the High Court stated that the matter is still under preliminary investigation and legal process, and a higher court can only intervene in case of a clear legal violation.
