A major burglary has been reported from Kandap village under the Gaurichak police station area of Patna, where unidentified thieves broke into a locked house and fled with cash and jewellery worth several lakhs. The incident came to light on Sunday, creating panic in the locality.

The victim, property dealer Rajveer Singh, said he had left his village house on December 30 and was staying at another residence in Patna along with his mother. On Sunday afternoon, villagers informed him that the main lock of his house was broken and the gate was open. When he rushed back, he found the house ransacked and the almirah broken open.

According to Singh, around ₹2.5 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth nearly ₹25 lakh were stolen. The manner in which the burglary was executed has raised suspicion of prior surveillance by the criminals.
