Shinde Hits Back at ‘Mumbai in 10 Minutes’ Remark

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has strongly countered BJP MP Raghav Chadha’s remark that Mumbai could be brought to a standstill in just ten minutes. Addressing a public gathering, Shinde said such statements undermine the spirit and resilience of Mumbai and its people. He asserted that the city’s strength lies in its hardworking citizens, particularly the Marathi community, and the legacy of the Shiv Sena, which has always safeguarded Mumbai’s interests.

Shinde emphasised that Mumbai is the financial backbone of the country and cannot be disrupted by political slogans or irresponsible claims. He said the metropolis continues to function even during difficult times because of the discipline and determination of its residents. The Chief Minister also accused opposition leaders of using provocative language for political attention ahead of elections, adding that governance requires responsibility, not rhetoric.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to Mumbai’s development and security, Shinde said no individual or party has the power to halt the city’s momentum. He urged leaders to respect Mumbai’s contribution to the nation and avoid statements that could create unnecessary fear or confusion among citizens.
