Pakur police have rearrested two murder convicts, Naren Mohli and Shivdhan Mohli, who had escaped from the court परिसर after being convicted by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge First Kumar Kranti Prasad. The arrests were confirmed by Pakur Superintendent of Police Nidhi Dwivedi during a press briefing.
According to the SP, on January 7, the court found four accused guilty in a murder case. However, two of them managed to flee from judicial custody soon after the verdict, triggering panic within the court premises. Acting swiftly, Pakur Nagar police registered a fresh case and formed special raiding teams to track the absconders.
Based on specific intelligence, both fugitives were arrested from Khariopara village under Maheshpur police station limits and were subsequently sent back to judicial custody. The SP stated that sentencing for all four convicts will be pronounced on January 12. Taking the lapse seriously, the court lockup in-charge has been suspended with immediate effect. Police have also initiated investigation and will soon file a chargesheet related to the escape incident.
