A major fire broke out at a footwear warehouse located amid a residential colony in Bokaro, triggering panic among local residents. The incident occurred late Saturday evening in Manmohan Colony under the Sector-12 police station area, when sparks were noticed rising from the warehouse. Within minutes, the entire facility was engulfed in flames, destroying stocked footwear and raw materials. Residents immediately alerted the warehouse owner and the fire brigade. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and, after intense efforts, brought the blaze under control. Warehouse owner Omkar Pandey said footwear stock from multiple companies was stored inside, including goods worth around ₹60 lakh that had arrived just two days earlier. He estimated total losses at nearly ₹1 crore. Fire officials said the blaze was severe and could have led to a major tragedy if not controlled in time. Around 20–25 workers living on the upper floors managed to evacuate safely, with no injuries reported.
