Jharkhand Congress Slams Babulal Marandi’s Remarks as Anti-Tribal

Jharkhand Congress on Friday strongly criticised remarks made by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, accusing him of being anti-tribal. The party objected to Marandi’s statement linking tribal faith, traditions, and identity with Sanatan, calling it an attempt to undermine the distinct cultural and religious identity of the tribal community.

In an official press release, Congress spokesperson Sonal Shanti, also known as Rinku Tiwari, said the remarks ignored and rejected the long-standing demand of the tribal community for a separate Sarna religion code. He emphasised that the social structure, traditions, and way of life of tribal society are deeply rooted and cannot be diluted or redefined.

Sonal Shanti further claimed that the tribal community clearly understands that its faith, customs, and existence can be safeguarded only under the Mahagathbandhan government in Jharkhand. He added that this sentiment has already been reflected in the outcomes of both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, which, according to him, sent a clear message to the BJP.

The Congress said it will continue to raise issues related to tribal rights, identity, and constitutional recognition.
