Ranchi and several parts of Jharkhand are reeling under severe cold due to persistent westerly to north-westerly winds in the lower troposphere, disrupting daily life, especially for children, elderly and homeless people. Authorities claim shelter homes are operational. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for dense fog has been issued in eight districts, including East and West Singhbhum, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Godda, Sahibganj and Pakur, for Christmas Day.
