Parliamentary data shows Air India employs more pilots than market leader IndiGo, despite operating only 181 aircraft compared to IndiGo’s 430 planes. Across six domestic airlines, 13,989 pilots are employed, with Air India accounting for 6,350 and IndiGo 5,085. Akasa and SpiceJet employ 466 and 385 pilots, respectively.
