SC Says ‘Everyone Equal’ as Rahul Gandhi Seeks Early Hearing

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said “everyone is equal before us” while hearing a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant rejected arguments seeking priority for Gandhi’s matter, stressing that registry rules apply equally. The court also declined an early listing request, saying cases cannot be selectively advanced before others.
