Passenger Dies After Falling From Train on Howrah-Mumbai Rail Route

An unidentified passenger died after being found critically injured near the railway track between Derowan and Mahadevsal railway stations on the Howrah-Mumbai main line. The incident has raised questions about how the passenger fell near the tracks. Police have taken possession of the body and started the postmortem process. Efforts are also underway to establish the identity of the deceased.

According to the information available, a railway trackman who was on duty on Friday noticed a seriously injured passenger lying near the up line close to pole number 352/39-41. The passenger was reportedly in severe pain and appeared to have sustained serious injuries.

The trackman immediately informed nearby railway stations about the incident. Railway officials then began efforts to shift the injured passenger to a hospital as quickly as possible. A goods train travelling on the up line was stopped near the spot to facilitate the rescue operation.

The trackman and the goods train’s guard reportedly shifted the injured passenger to the train’s brake van. The passenger was then transported toward Manoharpur in the goods train so that he could receive medical treatment without further delay.

However, after the train reached Manoharpur, preparations were made to take the injured passenger to the Community Health Centre. Before he could reach the hospital, his condition reportedly deteriorated and he died.

Following the passenger’s death, Manoharpur GRP and Goilkera police were informed. Police reached the spot, took custody of the body and initiated the required legal procedures. Information has also been shared with nearby police stations to help identify the deceased.

Police are currently investigating whether the man was travelling on a train and how he ended up near the tracks. A preliminary possibility is that he may have fallen from a moving train. However, the exact cause of the incident will be established only after the postmortem report and completion of the investigation. Police are continuing efforts to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
