India Objects to Pakistan’s Planned Gilgit-Baltistan Elections

India has strongly protested Pakistan’s decision to conduct elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, reiterating its position that the region remains an integral part of India. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the entire territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh legally acceded to India in 1947. New Delhi also accused Pakistan of attempting to conceal alleged human rights violations there.
