Trade Tensions Rise as US Targets India with Proposed Tariffs Over Labour Concerns

The Indian government has responded after the United States proposed new tariffs of 10–12.5% on imports from India and 59 other economies over alleged failures to address forced labour concerns. The Commerce Ministry said the measures are not final and remain under review. India continues diplomatic engagement with Washington while stakeholders can participate in hearings before a final decision is taken.
