Newly elected Sahar Yunus Shaikh issued a written apology after controversy over her “paint Mumbra green” remark. Following police questioning and a complaint by Kirit Somaiya, Shaikh clarified the statement referred to party colour, not religion, and affirmed loyalty to India’s tricolour. The Bharatiya Janata Party accepted the apology while criticising All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s political messaging during recent civic campaigns.
