The Bihar government has approved a revised electric vehicle policy aimed at accelerating clean transportation and reducing fuel dependence, with a major focus on supporting women buyers. Under the new framework, women purchasing electric cars will be eligible for subsidies of up to ₹1 lakh, while women buying electric two-wheelers can receive financial assistance of up to ₹10,000.
The policy is designed to encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles, lower transport-related emissions, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels across the state. Officials said the initiative aligns with long-term environmental goals and aims to significantly expand EV registrations by 2030.
In addition to incentives for women, the scheme offers subsidies for commercial and public-use electric vehicles, with higher assistance for eligible social categories. The government also expects the policy to generate employment opportunities through EV infrastructure expansion, charging networks, and eco-friendly transport services across Bihar.
