Banks across India will remain closed for a total of 12 days in May 2026, according to the holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The closures include all Sundays, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays, along with several national and state-specific holidays observed across different regions.
The month begins with a nationwide holiday on May 1, marking Labour Day and Maharashtra Day in many states. Additional closures will vary depending on local festivals and observances, such as Statehood Day in Sikkim, Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti in Tripura, and Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid), which will be observed across the country.
Despite these closures, customers can continue to access digital banking services, including internet banking, mobile banking, and ATM transactions, without interruption. However, customers are advised to plan branch-related work in advance to avoid inconvenience during these holidays.
