The Bihar government has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop a 20,200-acre Tirhut Greenfield Satellite Township in Muzaffarpur, aimed at transforming the region into a modern, planned urban hub. Modeled on cities like Delhi and Chandigarh, the township will cover 68 villages across blocks including Kurhani, Marwan, Kanti, and Mushahari, with selected areas designated as core zones.
To facilitate the project, the government has imposed a ban on land transactions and new construction in the proposed area until June 30, 2027. Landowners will be compensated through a land-pooling model, receiving up to 55 percent share in the developed township, ensuring future income opportunities.
The project promises world-class infrastructure, including parks, commercial zones, industrial areas, wide roads, and modern drainage systems. While officials highlight potential economic growth and job creation, residents have expressed concerns due to halted land deals and ongoing uncertainty surrounding the development.
